| Which is best?
I hear a lot that for online FPS games a wired connection is essential but then i hear as long as your wireless signal strength is full it won't matter.
What do you use? | |

| for 3 months i thought i lag cause of wireless. i still get killed in a second by wraith noobs. so i think if u have a strong signal it makes no difference. but i have more trust in a wire.
by the way.
which download/upload speed u guys have. how's your ping.

| i used speedtest.net and the server they recommended to run the test for my laptop which is wireless. my router is downstairs, the office is upstairs opposite corner. i live in an older solid stone wall house. ran it three times.
distance from server: 50 miles download: 8.15 - 9.87 Mb/s upload: 0.47 - 0.49 Mb/s ping: 21 - 31 ms
my ps3 is hardwired tho, so im guessing it would give better results? what about you guys, how was your test results?

| I use wireless and when my signal strength was 2/3 bars, I felt like I was lagging, my one hit kills were taking considerably more bullets, although I never verified I was lagging so who knows.
I bought a little thing that plugs in to the electric socket which extends the wireless range through the inner electrics of the house and my signal is now 5 bars and my games work fine.
One of my friends, Lorrena316, can not connect wirelessly to her ps3 for some reason. And can not use her laptop if her ps3 is switched on lol it's madness.

| My PS3 is about a quarter of a metre away from the router. Wired does not work on the PS3... Wireless has given me no troubles. TBH, its pretty shite. | |

| I just had to switch to wired. My router started giving DNS errors and wouldn't connect. Ive noticed a big improvement in my connection. No lag except when the lag switch is hit. HA
Wireless slows down every computer/laptop. If you have a choice. Choose wired. There's times at work when I'm using out industrial laptop that I shut the wireless off because it is lagging the computer down. Once it's off the computer speeds up.

If anyone has any suggestions on how I can fix this, that would be great, as it is sooooooo annoying. Plus even though my playstation is connected via the wire, I feel my gameplay on resistance lags a bit, Mattyla will agree. Ive contacted my internet provider but they say I am receiving the highest possible connection speeds from them!?

| as u guys can see the next server was 200 mi away. at a german site i had a 0.32 Ping, maybe the server wasn't so far away. @Time: don't understand ur results, really good download, but ping and upload r shit. in germany i saw a gamer flatrate with a ping of 20ms (ping is the most important thing in FPS). | |

| I used wireless - I get about 50% connection in my room from the router downstairs. It's fine for me.. I wouldn't know which was better cos I never used wired. |

| K, so we got the internet installed, that new satellite shit. 200$ for installation. Fine. I try to play R1, i'm lagging like a mother fucker. Plus, it wasn't even wireless, had to plug an old wireless router to the laptop to make it work.
So, after that lagging shit, I drive up to Future Shop and by myself a better modem. I'll have to try it tonight to see if I still lag...Grrrr
